It is with feelings of grief and relief that I have decided to close Carapace for a variety of reasons, including ageing and energy.

Coming to this decision has not been easy. Carapace has been part of my life for so long and has given me such pleasure. I have made numerous friends and my life has been much enriched.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the poets and readers who have contributed over the years with poetry, prose, finance, donations and administration. You are too numerous to mention, but you know who you are. Without all of you the magazine would not have survived as long as it has.

It must further be noted that without Jo-Anne Friedlander, her enthusiasm, computer skills and her no-nonsense strictness the magazine would have faltered much earlier.

Thank you one and all.

Your Humble Savant
